Rescue 1122 Introduction
Punjab Emergency Services (RESCUE 1122) is Pakistan’s leading humanitarian service with infrastructure in all 36 districts of Punjab. Rescue 1122 has saved millions of emergency victims through ambulance, rescue and fire services and community emergency response teams. This is clearly reflected in the service’s mission statement, which is to “build safe communities through an effective system of emergency preparedness, response and prevention.”
To promote safer communities, Rescue 1122 operates a community safety program that includes building the capacity of community emergency response teams, a school safety program, training residents in life-saving skills, and working with the Chamber of Commerce in fire and professional development. The Emergency Academy was established to develop a sustainable human resource in the field of emergency management, which has been neglected for a long time in Pakistan. The academy now provides training to emergency personnel not only in Punjab but also in other provinces of Pakistan. The academy provides training in emergency medical training, firefighting, fire prevention and investigation, urban search and rescue, high angle rescue, confined space rescue, water rescue and other emergency response skills.
