Vacancies have been created for shepherds, ex-agents, guards and cleaners. The vacancies are in Attock, Chiniot, Sahiwal and Lahore. This appointment will be made on the basis of contract policy of 2004. Quota is reserved for women, minorities and persons with disabilities.
Introduction :
Livestock rearing is a growing sector, as its share in the country’s economy is steadily increasing. In addition, agriculture is an active employer for thousands of landless poor, subsistence and semi-subsistence small families. In short, livestock and their products are directly related to the economy of small and medium farmers. It is an important source of functional food and contributes to the health, nutrition and well-being of both rural and urban consumers. Despite the immense importance of the subject area, its achievements, problems and future prospects are not emphasized in general development projects. In a country like Pakistan, information on livestock is not readily available and appears to be mostly fragmented. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development provides various services to the animal husbandry sector of Punjab province through its agricultural infrastructure network. In addition to government-level efforts, more attention needs to be paid to market and livestock sector demand development, both in the public and private sectors, to ultimately contribute to rural socio-economic development.
